European Media Hubs: EU Commission call to support reporting on EU affairs
Brussels, 22 July 2025
- Opening: 22 July 2025
- Closing: 29 September 2025
This EU Commission call for proposals has a budget of EUR 7.4 million and aims to support independent reporting on EU affairs by European-level newsrooms.
Decisions made at European level directly and increasingly impact people’s life. To balance arguments, develop an informed judgment and participate in such decisions, people need independent news provided from plural sources or viewpoints, produced with high journalistic standards.
Yet, news on EU affairs do not reach all segments of the audiences, and when they do, they are often provided from a national perspective only. This does not help contribute to mutual understanding among Europeans.
This call for proposals seeks to improve the consumption of plural and independent news on EU affairs provided by European media hubs for specific audience segments. The grant will finance the joint curation and joint production and dissemination of pluralistic and appealing news media content on EU affairs.
The budget allocated to this call amounts to EUR 7.4 million. We expect to finance (co-financing rate of maximum 95%) 2 to 4 projects which will last around 24 months. Consortia must pool at least 5 organisations originating from 5 different countries (EU Member States, candidate and potential candidate countries).
